This policy covers the CARBYNE app by Carbyne Fitness. The app shows the same text under Settings > Privacy & permissions. Questions: jon@carbyne.fitness.

Waitlist

When you join the waitlist on this site, we store the name and email address you enter, any quiz answers you choose to give, and the time you signed up. We use them only to decide who to invite to the TestFlight beta and to email you that invite. We do not sell them or share them with advertisers. To have them deleted, email jon@carbyne.fitness.

What we collect

Account identity (via Clerk), the fitness data you enter (workouts, body metrics, nutrition, supplements, injuries, and — only if you opt in — menstrual-cycle and PED logging), photos you upload, your conversations with KADE (text and voice transcripts), and product telemetry that helps us keep the app working and improving.

Biometric & health data

Body metrics, progress photos, cycle tracking, injury history, and similar entries are health-related data. We treat them as special-category data: they are collected only with your explicit, revocable consent, used solely to power your coaching, never sold, and deletable by you at any time.

How we use it

To run your personalised coaching (KADE, SAGE) and to improve the product in aggregate. KADE reasons over a knowledge base of public research; it queries that knowledge with anonymised context — your identity is not stored against the research corpus.

Voice

Voice coaching streams your microphone audio to speech and language providers for real-time inference. CARBYNE does not store your raw audio — only the text transcript of the conversation is kept, and you can delete it with your account.

Sharing

We use vetted processors under data-processing agreements (auth, voice speech/LLM, cloud hosting and backups). We do not sell your personal data. The full list of where your data lives is published in our data map (GET /api/privacy/data-map).

Retention

Your account data is kept while your account is active. Transient logs and usage counters auto-expire on a published schedule (GET /api/privacy/retention). Encrypted disaster-recovery backups roll off within ~35 days, so deleted data ages out of backups within that window.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

You can export all of your data (GET /api/me/export) and permanently delete your account and data (DELETE /api/me) at any time, directly in the app — no email request required. You can grant or revoke any specific consent (GET/POST/DELETE /api/consent).

Medical disclaimer

CARBYNE provides fitness coaching only. Nothing here is medical advice. Always consult a qualified health professional before making decisions about your health, medications, or medical conditions. If you experience a medical emergency or a red-flag symptom, stop exercising and seek immediate medical care.

What each permission collects

The app asks for each of these separately, before it collects anything.

Health & body metrics

What we collect
Weight, body measurements, body-fat estimates, and related health metrics you record.
Why we need it
To track your progress and let KADE adapt training and nutrition to your real, current state.

Progress photos

What we collect
Physique photos you upload and any AI analysis of them.
Why we need it
To measure visual body-composition change over time and inform coaching.

Menstrual-cycle tracking

What we collect
Cycle dates, phase, and symptoms you log.
Why we need it
To periodise training and recovery around your cycle. Entirely optional.

Nutrition coaching

What we collect
Meals, calories, macros, and supplement intake you log.
Why we need it
To give nutrition guidance and tie intake to your outcomes.

Performance-enhancing-drug logging

What we collect
Compounds, doses, and timing you choose to log.
Why we need it
To provide harm-reduction-aware coaching context. Highly sensitive — logged only if you explicitly opt in, and never shared.

Beta outcome research

What we collect
Longitudinal snapshots of your training inputs and measured outcomes.
Why we need it
To study what coaching actually works, in aggregate, and improve KADE.

Medical clearance (special populations)

What we collect
Your confirmation of medical clearance for prenatal, postpartum, or masters (65+) training.
Why we need it
Required before we generate a plan for a higher-risk population, for your safety.
